September 2009, VMFA-115 arrives at MCAS Iwakuni for a six-month tour as part of the Unit Deployment Program.

This represents the Aircraft for the Commanding Officer (Lt. Col. Danny L. Johnson) of the Silver Eagles, which consist of 200 service members and 10 F/A-18 A ++ aircraft during their Deployment.
The Silver Eagles are equipped with "Lot 9" Hornets, some of the oldest F/A-18s still in service and have recently undergone modifications which bring them up to date with their newer counterparts.
