Mirage F1AZ in delivery scheme as seen in the 70s and 80s. Corrected roughmets.
The Mirage F1AZ was ordered by the SAAF to replace its Mirage 3 fleet. The AZ was specifically developed for the SAAF, with what was at the time, a sophisticated doppler navigation system for low level strike sorties.
The F1AZs were used extensively during the Border War conflict, with good results. 2 aircraft were lost on combat missions, and the F1AZ served in the SAAF as a frontline fighter for 22 years.
Represented here is the F1AZ on its introduction to SAAF service, and the initial camouflage pattern.
Direct replacement in the F1AZ folder.
