Hi,

My forumname/callsign is Chad Vader and I fly as part of the VFA-202 Black Knights Squadron, a fly for fun, beer and pretzels type squad who based in the UK.  We fly from 8:30pm GMT WED and FRI.

I, along with a few others in the squad have been creating missions for some time now and this is the culmination of my overall skillset.  I use a dynamic library called DML which I believe is a highly underused and superb set of tools for mission design.  Read more about it here: https://forum.dcs.world/topic/290975-dml-mission-creation-toolbox-no-lua-required/

This mission is designed to emulate the new SEA POWER RTS game in DCS.  If you have played that game its basically DCS the RTS and after playing it I was inspired to create this mission to emulate the kind of events that happen in that game.

Key features of the mission: This is a multiplayer mission and requires the coordination of a medium sized group (fast jets and helicopters) to perform carrier operations as per the RTS.  The mission also takes advantage of the new fog effects and keys.

The mission is a fleet on fleet, capture the island type scenario that includes some innovate features thanks to DML

At mission start the carrier group will be hunted by enemy submarines.  You must use the scripted ASW module in order to hunt them.  To do this spawn in any unit on the Tarawa (av8b included).  Use the f10 menu to load up on ASW buoys and torpedos (they have weight).  You may deploy the buoys in the water using the f10 menu.  You will hear an audible PING when a buoy locks on to a target.  All targets are EAST of the carrier group.  You will see a detection cone on the f10 map.  Once 2 or more buoys have detected a sub, you will get a fix.  Fly to the fix and you will see a sub wake.  Release your torpedo near the fix and hope it locks on and guides.  You will be advised of guidance updates via in game messages.

CTLD is active in the mission and you must load troops on helos from the Tarawa and ferry them to the island in order to capture it.  Friendly naval forces will arrive to assist with this.

You must protect the carrier strike group from attack from both sea and air.  The threat of airborne and seaborne vampire is ever present.  Destroying the enemy carrier group will be difficult and you must try to coordinate your attacks.

Mission Overview: Carrier Battle for the Northern Marianas

Scenario:
The battle for control over a strategic island has reached its climax. Two powerful carrier groups—one US Navy and one Soviet—are locked in a deadly confrontation. Your objective is to lead your forces to secure air superiority, destroy the enemy fleet, and capture the island.

Mission Details:
Initial Situation:

A U.S. Navy carrier strike group, centered around the USS Stennis, is engaged in combat with a Soviet carrier strike group. The enemy fleet is well-defended by submarines, surface ships, and aircraft.

A contested island is fortified with heavy artillery and enemy defences, posing a significant threat to allied transport ships and troops.

Primary Objectives:

Phase 1: Defend the Fleet

Protect your carrier group from incoming threats, including enemy bombers, submarines, and missiles.

Phase 2: Secure the Island

Provide air cover for allied transport ships as they approach the landing zone.

Neutralize enemy heavy guns and defences on the island to clear the way for troop landings.

Use helicopters to ferry troops to the island and secure a forward operating base.

Phase 3: Destroy the Enemy Carrier Group

Logistical Details:

Once the island is secured, helicopters and STOL-capable aircraft can rearm and refuel at the forward operating base.

Players are encouraged to coordinate airstrikes, defensive patrols, and logistical operations to adapt to the dynamic battlefield.

Mission Tips:

Prioritize the destruction of enemy artillery and defences on the island.

Coordinate with allied naval forces to deliver the final blow to the enemy carrier group.

Installation Instructions:
Place the mission file in your Saved Games/DCS/Missions folder.

Launch DCS, navigate to the Missions section, and select "SEA POWER"
