This is the single player edit of the H-Hour +1 multiplayer mission, specifically crafted for Growling Sidewinder. In this scenario you will play as Cpt Miller, a real life F15 pilot who established a CAP not far from Baghdad ahead of the Wild Weasels on the first night of Desert Storm, one hour after F-117s and cruise missiles bombarded the capital (H Hour +1). After establishing your CAP, you will be engaged by 2 of every aircraft the F15s faced that night, progressively escalating in difficulty with each new pair. In total, you will engage 8 enemy aircraft over the AAA-lit skies of Baghdad.

H-Hour +1

## The situation ##
It's 0400hrs Local Time, 17 January 1991.  Desert Storm has just begun. In the space of the last 45 minutes, Iraq's C2 infrastructure has been all but completely decimated by a barrage of bombs dropped by F117s on Baghdad and nearby installations, and by seven B52s that have flown a 35 hour mission from the midland states in the USA. Ship-launched cruise missiles have pounded known anti-air positions in the capital. Meanwhile, further south, Apache gunships have destroyed two key radar installations near the Saudi border.

The gap in the radar coverage and associated C2 infrastructure has allowed your package to slip into Iraq unnoticed. A 20-strong wall of F-15Cs will set up CAPs across the full stretch of the Iraqi desert just outside known air bases, including your CAP not far from Baghdad. From the west, a host of TALD drones head towards Baghdad, ready to trick the unsuspecting Iraqi operators into using their tracking radars. It'll work. As AAA lights the sky with red flashes, SAMs will spring into action, revealing themselves to the approaching Wild Weasels.

## Your Objectives ##
Establish a CAP south of Baghdad and engage any enemy aircraft reported by Magic 58.

Your mission ends after you have downed 8 aircraft.

## ROE ##
Cleared BVR.

## Friendly units ##
Package A will approach Baghdad from the south, consisting of F4 Wild Weasels.

Package B, a predominantly naval package with F18s C/S Hornet, will approach the city from the west.

Magic58 is on station near the Saudi border.

Vega, F117s, are Winchester and RTB.

Doom, B5s, are Winchester and RTB.

Heartless, EA6s (not simulated here but will be on comms -  and will be added to the mission once the unit is released), launching TALDs into the capital.

## Intelligence ##
With Iraq's C2 capability completely decimated, we expect that any intercepts will be opportunistic, uncoordinated, and without GCI. Iraq possess not only capable airframes - most notably Mig-29s - but also has the benefit of air combat experience during the Iran war. We anticipate a high variety of capability, even if they're uncoordinated.

Imagery and SIGINT reveal that most of Iraq's anti-air capability currently surrounds the capital. It possesses a number of mobile SAMs. Though this makes their capability less than strategic and very uncoordinated, it nevertheless means you'll be engaging targets of opportunity as our intelligence is not timely enough to reveal their locations. A number of static sites have been marked for your benefit already.
