During the 1980s, Afghanistan's currency was the Afghan Afghani (AFA), and while specific wage data is limited, evidence suggests that even civil servants were paid very low amounts, perhaps around US$5 per month, and at irregular intervals, and that the economy was severely impacted by the Soviet-Afghan War.

Ismatullah Muslim, also called Ismatullah Achakzai or just Ismat, was an Afghan militia leader, who in 1979 joined the Mujahadeen opposed to the communist PDPA and the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, before coming over to the side of the government in 1984.  This act of betrayal was so heinous to the Mujahadeen that a bounty of $5,000 USD was placed on the traitor’s head, a payday like this would keep a family fed for life.

Ismat has left Bamian air base and is heading back to Kabul via Bursanak, head east to the Fort then fly south to Bursanak to engage the HVT, local militia with Stingers will intercept any Hips that patrol the Bamian valley, AAA are active in Bursanak so approach with caution and use your missiles to neutralize these before engaging the HVT.  Once Ismat has been assassinated you can fly to the safe zone in Gardan Dewal to complete the mission.
