“Iron Recovery” is a critical Search and Rescue operation in the heart of Afghanistan’s operational area, set against the backdrop of ongoing Taliban attacks that continue to challenge coalition forces. On April 7, 2013, a CH-47 Chinook, CALLSIGN: STALKER, was shot down while conducting a resupply mission north of Jalalabad.

A CH-47 Chinook transport helicopter, CALLSIGN: STALKER, was shot down by enemy fire earlier this afternoon during a routine resupply operation in the mountains approximately 20 nautical miles north of Jalalabad Airfield. Preliminary reports indicate the aircraft took a direct hit from an RPG during final approach to an HLZ, forcing an emergency landing. Despite sustaining significant damage, the aircrew survived the crash and managed to establish a defensive perimeter around the wreck.

The STALKER crew is now holding out under sustained Taliban assault, taking cover in rough terrain near the downed airframe. UAV reconnaissance and intercepted comms suggest the enemy is attempting to flank and encircle the position. One crew member is confirmed wounded and unable to move, and ammunition is running low. Visibility is deteriorating as sunset approaches.

Your task is clear: launch immediately, locate and extract the survivors, and return them safely to FOB Jalalabad before their position is completely overrun. Expect hostile fire, possible technical vehicles, and no margin for delay.
