Early this morning, Russian forces from the 131st Separate Motor Rifle Brigade, supported by Abkhazian rebels, crossed into western Georgia. After initial success, five companies were sent to capture Zugdidi.

Instead of light resistance, they encountered stiff urban combat. Within hours, comms were lost with four of the five companies. Only 10th Company remains in contact, currently pinned down at Zugdidi Train Station and facing an imminent Georgian assault.
