Unguided munitions on the A-10C II benefit from setting up the ambient wind and temperature, so that the fire control computer can calculate the pertinent corrections as the round falls through the different height layers and its differents wind and temperature values. This calculator aids in getting the correct format with the different corrections, so it will be easier and faster to input them on the A-10C II.

Just copy the values as shown in the "Mission Briefing", fill in the blue fields in the calculator, and use the red fields result for setting up the A-10C wind correction.

1- Input the blue values from Mission Briefing
2- Sel ect the map fr om the dropdown
3- Red values are the computed results
4- CDU: SYS/LASTE/WIND
4- Input the five lines "ALT" in Left LSK
5- CDU: WNDEDIT
6- Input the "BRG+SPD" appended in Left LSK
7- Input the "TMP" in Right LSK

The aim of this A-10C II checklist is to be in the air and combat ready as soon as possible, while avoiding the drawback of a degraded EGI INS from an in-flight or fast alignment, instead of the more accurate ground alignment. The 5 minutes that this alignment requires is the main limiting factor in the startup time.

Everything is optimized for that, and while may not be USAF or AAF compliant, it gets the job done. Just apply some common sense regarding other traffic while taxiing or taking off, as any ATC communication is not done. Every possible step to be done airborne is moved to "AFTER TAKEOFF", so it could be done while ferrying to the destination

It seems that all the HOTAS commands sheets out there are wrong (specially the one from the official DCS A-10C II manual, from Eagle Dynamics) in one or many commands. So I decided to make an upgraded one for this aircraft and test all the functions, one by one, to realy be sure that everything is working as intended.

Please, anything that you may detect as incorrect or lacking, I would love to know about it in the comments. Seems real strange that something as basic as this chart is wrong and outdated in the official DCS manual.

What to say about it? Do we need a device profile to fly an A-10C II with the Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog? Absolutely yes!

-Stick: All of the stock controls remains the same. I have added different controls for the views using the lever as a modifier.

-Throttle: None of the Throttle controls are used by the Lever modifier. Some of those controls that are never used in practice are remapped to something more useful. Snap Views are setup to your own liking, for example "Snap View 8" for a camera that allows a higher view when attacking ground or "Snap View 2" for a lower view in an air-to-air engagement.

After many years studying many checklists (including the real one "TO 1A-10C-1"), I have never found any checklist for this aircraft that satisfies me.
This checklist has in mind the actual real panel status when cold starting the A-10C II in DCS. It assumes a perfect working aircraft (so no time wasted in checking obvious things like status lights, etc), while striving for the most real simulation in the steps order.
