May 25th, 1975 – Weapons Depot Strike -
Tensions with Lebanon have reached a breaking point after a rocket attack on Northern Israel yesterday.
In response to the attack, you will lead a four-plane strike group of A-4Es. Your target will be a weapons storage depot on the Southern coast of Lebanon.
The target area (35nm North) consists of fourteen storage buildings, four fuel storage tanks and some fuel tanker trucks. All of these are valid targets. See the intel photos in your briefing. target area is D1 on your Nav Computer.
You will receive active BDA as targets are destroyed.
There is a Russian cargo ship docked from a recent “supply” mission. Try to avoid any direct hits to the ship. We do not want the Russians dragged into this.
Threats:
The border/coastal region is littered with AAA. Watch out for the “Golden BB”
An SA-2 site was recently set up in the area
MiG-15s frequently patrol the Lebanon coast/Israel border
A four-plane A-4E SEAD strike group (Enfield) will depart prior to your strike group. They will help deal with the SAM/AAA threat. They are armed with: Shrike missiles and 5” Zuni rockets.
Your Strike Group (Uzi) will be armed with: 2x MK83 on centerline station 3, 2x MK82 on stations 2 & 4, AIM-9 Sidewinders on stations 1 & 5. Those will come in handy if you tangle with any MiGs. You will have full 20mm cannons too. You have 60 x Chaff to help avoid the SAM threat.
Depart Ramat-David Airfield and proceed North to the target area.
Active Runway is 33
Tower 251.05
TACAN CH 84
The Mission will end when you land back at Ramat-David Airfield and taxi clear of Runway 33.
If you tangle with any MiGs and need some help, drag them back across the border to Israel. Air defenses will activate and help you get home.
