F-14B Thrustmaster AVA/Warthog script profile based on A-G, NAV and A-A layers, including an additional JESTER layer for quick access to a lot of Jester commands.

Profile Description

This is a TARGET script based profile for the DCS F-14B. Key bindings are very personal and everybody makes there own choices. I have used many profiles as examples to come up with this one I currently use. I hope this one can serve as an example for others as well.

My starting points for this profile were to bind many functions to minimise use of the keyboard in DCS, and have common functions and bindings over multiple airplanes (e.g. Gear, Canopy, Hook, Autopilot, Flashlight, etc.). This has resulted in a pretty large set of bindings, close to actual aircraft buttons, with some exceptions to keep things common over multiple airframes, so you might find some choices that seem strange.

The profile has a layered setup with 3 layers for A-G, NAV and A-A (TARGET script: [U]pper, [M]iddle and [D]own layers) operated from the Boat Switch. Each of these layers has a momentary shift layer (TARGET script: [O]ut and [I]n) operated from the Pinkie Lever. Using all these layers for all buttons is way more than I can remember, so only a few use all layers. I also have a picture of my mapping in the aircraft's kneeboard, so I can quickly look things up.

Additionally, this profile has a dedicated JESTER layer, which provides quick access to a lot of Jester functions directly from the stick and throttle.

Next to the layers, the script has a few extra modes ([WHDN] Wheels Down, [AAR] A-A Refuelling and [CAR] Carrier (F-14/18)) to make room for additional functions, mainly radio commands (e.g. request taxi/take off for [WHDN] and Salute for [CAR]). These modes are activated when using regular functions (e.g. [WHDN] is active when wheels are down and is deactivated when wheels are retracted).

The script also contains a few more complex functions, such as the Virtual Afterburner Detent, which can be activated or deactivated at any time during flight.

How to install

This script uses target version 3.0.24.618 or later (with 128 DX commands). If you want to run this script, use the following steps:
1. Copy the 2 script files to your TARGET scripts folder
2. Bind the Blue button commands from the excel file
3. Bind the Blue BTN numbers from the excel file (to the TM Virtual Game Controller, make sure the script is running)
4. Optional: Disable AVA/Warthog and Throttle profiles in DCS to prevent interference (drop down menu at profile name)
5. Optional: Set the KP4 view to a close-up of the VDI and HSD

AVA vs Warthog base

This script is made for the AVA base, but can be easily modified for use with the Warthog base. Follow these steps:
1. File DCS_F-14B_Tomcat_PILOT.tmc:  Replace all occurances of &AVA_F16 with &Joystick
2. File DCS_F-14B_Tomcat_RIO.tmc:  Replace all occurances of &AVA_F16 with &Joystick
3. File DCS_F-14B_Tomcat_JESTER.tmc:  Replace all occurances of &AVA_F16 with &Joystick
4. File DCS_Fighter_Common.tmc:  Replace occurances of &AVA_F16 with &Joystick EXCEPT in the Configuration Section on line 152
5. Change the MODE_EXCLUDE from AVA to Warthog:
   - Include Warthog by commenting out line 138 (should become: //Configure(&Joystick, MODE_EXCLUDED);
   - Exclude AVA by removing comment from line 152 (should become: Configure(&AVA_F16, MODE_EXCLUDED);
