​The 46th Tactical Fighter Squadron of the Republic of China Air Force (ROCAF), also known as the 46th Aggressor Squadron, plays a crucial role in Taiwan's aerial combat training. Established in 1972 with U.S. Military Assistance Advisory Group assistance, the squadron is based at Zhi-Hang Air Base in Taitung. ​

Initially operating F-86 Sabres, the squadron transitioned to F-5A/B Freedom Fighters in 1977, and later to F-5E/F Tiger II aircraft in 1981. These aircraft are painted in bare-metal finishes to simulate enemy fighters, enhancing the realism of training exercises. ​

As Taiwan's sole aggressor unit, the 46th Squadron is integral to the ROCAF's Tactical Training and Development Center, often referred calleds Top Gun." Their mission is to emulate potential adversaries, providing realistic training scenarios that improve the combat readiness of Taiwan's fighter pilots.​
