My Controls Relationship Drills - develop the muscle memory required to learn to fly helicopters
Your mission starts hot on the runway with the AH-64D Apache. I have strategically placed a series of gates through the entire traffic pattern for Tonopah, some placed at higher altitudes than others. The idea is to demonstrate the relationships between all the flight controls - collective, cyclic, anti-torque pedals, throttle - which must be learned flying a helicopter.
EXAMPLE: to climb to a higher gate you will need collective up and, at the same time, cyclic forward will be needed in order to maintain your rate of climb. Also some pedal input will be needed to counter the torque required for the change in power. The above actions will be exactly the opposite for descents to lower gates.
