This skin depicts F-4E-60-MC, S/N: 74-0644 of the 335th TFS (”Chiefs”), 4th TFW
Pilot Lt. Col. Richard B. Myers at Seymore Johnson AFB, NC circa 1982.

REVISED 7/15/24 - Changed WSO's handle from Clueless to Clueles. His name is Capt *LES* Kafel... get it? LOL
REVISED 8/4/24 - Weathering and roughmets re-done with the help and encouragement of Seasoned Creators at the DCS: Livery Art Group (especially MigMaster, Crash and SR-F Noodle. Exhaust nozzles darkened to match the photographs.

Lieutenant Colonel Myers served at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, North Carolina, as Chief of Weapons and Tactics for the 4th Tactical Fighter Wing until October and then as the Operations Officer and Commanding Officer of the 355th Tactical Fighter Squadron until November 1983. He subsequently returned to the 4th Tactical Fighter Wing, where he temporarily served as the Assistant Deputy Commander for Operations. Meyers had a distinguished career eventually becoming a General and the 15th Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, on 1 October 2001.

The aircraft was converted to a QF-4 Aerial Target at the 309th Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group, often called The Boneyard, Tucson, Arizona, Davis–Monthan Air Force, 18 June 1991. It is listed as being scrapped.

A few things of note in this skin:

The rendering of the "4th Tactical Fighter Wing" badge. As I understand, the badge emblems were water slide decals (like a plastic model) which were protected by a spray clearcoat. These would eventually breeak down and flake off around the edges. The gloss, overspray and chipping were rendered to replicate the photo as best that I could.

The dark fuzzy border of the dark green. I don't know but theorize that the field of the color was applied using masks and then outlined with the spraygun set to no fan (airbrush) to soften the edges. The paint mix used might have been slightly darker. Or maybe it's due to the reflectivity in the thin overspray edges. I've seen similar when I used to paint aircraft.

Shoulder patches for the crew's uniforms.

Custom helmets with the Pilot's and WSO's handles. Totally surmised by me. I could find no references.

Thanks to:
@MagicaThunder for his "Homemade Paintkit"
@MigMaster for providing the correct default colors per @ben_der.
@ben_der for providing the F-4E Wireframes.
