Formed in early 1995, the 46th Air Force Unit ‘Silver Eagles’ was a unit in the Ustain 6th Air Division. Being primarily a mercenary unit, Pilots in the 46th AFU were from across the globe, including Useans, Veruseans, Aneans, and many from the surrounding Osean continent.

While not nearly as impactful as other more famous 6th AD units, the 46th AFU was instrumental in support of smaller operations to liberate Ustio, and in furthering the push into Belka proper. The unit would be responsible for many air to air victories, especially in the infamous Area B7R.

Due to combat losses and manpower drains following the nuclear attacks of 6 June 1995, the unit was disbanded, and its remaining personnel reassigned to reinforce other units in the 6th Air Division.

A career naval aviator, ‘Dick’ Owens has flown most every naval fighter the Oseans had to offer during his time in service. Retiring as a Captain in 1980 with two air to air kills to his name., Retirement did little to slow Owens down, consistently moving from job to job unsatisfied, largely looking for the chance to fly fighters again in his retirement. That would be until late 1994 when a routine physical gave him a non operable, terminal diagnosis. Now with his time running short, Blondie would cash out his retirement and savings to fly in one last war before his illness killed him.

Teaming up with longtime friend Richard Altner, the two set out east from Osea to join the Ustain Air Force, eventually acting as Commander and Executive Officer of the 46th Air Force Unit. Under Blondies’ leadership, the squadron would fly in multiple engagements during the Belkan war, helping take back seized Ustain Air bases and the push into Belkan proper. During excursions into Area B7R, Blondie would shoot down two more Belkan fighters.

Blondie would be killed one June 6th 1995 during Operation Ravage, on his way to intercept a Nuclear armed BM-335 bomber making its way towards Osea.
