This mission is based on the 29 October 1980 "Sultan 10" operation at the beginning of the Iraq-Iran war. Iranian intelligence has positively identified the presence of newly delivered Mirage F1s based in and around Mosul. 6 F4 Phantoms have been tasked with runway strikes while you - callsign Sultan 7 - has been tasked with escorting them and protecting the tanker which is circling at low level . The tanker is essential; without it, the Phantoms will be unable to RTB. You will provide cover for both the F4s and the tanker, while dodging Iraqi SAM sites.
