Relive the Battle of Saipan in this DCS World mission designed for the F4U Corsair. Set just hours after the initial U.S. Marine landings, the battle for control of the island is heating up. American forces have established a foothold on the western beaches and are now advancing inland toward Lake Susupe. It’s up to you—and your Corsair—to provide critical air support in this decisive phase of the invasion.

This mission supports both single-player and multiplayer (up to 12 players) and offers a flexible set of objectives that allow you to fly in the role that best suits your playstyle. Whether you prefer ground attack or air superiority, the skies over Saipan are alive with danger and opportunity.

At dawn this morning, elements of the U.S. 2nd Marine Division and 4th Marine Division landed on the western beaches of Saipan under heavy Japanese resistance. After fierce fighting on the beachhead, American forces have secured a tenuous foothold and are now pushing inland toward Lake Susupe.

Naval gunfire and carrier-based aircraft provided close air support during the initial assault. With the beachhead stabilized, the focus now shifts to eliminating inland threats impeding the advance.

PRIMARY TARGETS

AAA Batteries:

These flak emplacements are threatening friendly air operations. Eliminate them to secure the airspace.

Artillery Positions:

These guns are targeting the Marine front line and must be neutralized.

Supply Points:

Destroy enemy ammo and fuel dumps to disrupt Japanese resupply efforts.

Airfields:

Disable enemy runways and destroy aircraft parked on the ramp.
