F-14 Tomcat
Established in 1965, the Head Hunters were an F-4J squadron before finally converting to the F-14 in 1978. For the next forty years VF-228 Would hop between RAG and various Fleet assignments. They would participate in nearly every armed conflict in that time, until their twilight years.
With their final assignment in 2017 with the announcement of Oseas newest Super Carrier Admiral Anderson, VF-228 Became the sole fighter unit assigned to the 28th Carrier Air Wing. The Headhunters would support the carrier on its ill fated maiden voyage until the final week of the war. During this time, the Carrier ran aground and the order to abandon Ship was issued. Despite protests from the CAG, the 228 had to abandon their Tomcats in the hangar and sat out the final days of the war Ashore with the rest of the Anderson's skeleton crew.
The choice was made after the war to finally sundown the Headhunters along with the eventual termination of all F-14 units within the Osean Maritime Defense Force

On September 11, 1972 VMFA-333, the Fighting Shamrocks aboard USS America launched a MigCAP which was to patrol over the Haiphong area. A/C 201 and A/C 206 engaged Mig-21’s and shot down one confirmed and claimed one probable. While egressing the area short of fuel, both Phantoms were damaged by AAA and SAM fire. They were able to reach the coast before the crews ejected and were recovered by SAR.
This was the only confirmed All-Marine MiG kill during the Vietnam War.

The camouflaged version with Bort letters enabled of Flight Lieutenant A Torrance of 'A' Flight, No. 27 Squadron, RAF Mosquito at Parashuram, India, for a sortie over Burma, March 30, 1944. With the kind assistance of "Busdriver" from the IL2 Sturmovik forum and "Helles Belle" from the DCS forum, it was determined that No. 27 Squadron didn't use any letter codes on their aircraft. Special thanks to "Raptorattacker", IL2 skinner supreme for his fuel spill image which I have used and modified. Added numerous weathering "eye candy" including muddy landing gear and ground crew handprints.
