418 RCAF Squadron was trying out its new Mosquito VIs that were gradually replacing the older A-20 Havocs used for night intruder missions. They sent one Mossie to raid the Luftwaffe bomber base at Evreux and then conduct intruder missions at two enemy bases on the way home.

In 1948, Israel declared its independence. It had no air force but it recruited World War II air combat pilots to fly the fighters it was able to obtain.

These are all recreations of the most important missions of Squadron 101 "The First Fighter Squadron."

On 19 October 1973, the Israeli army emplaced its huge roller bridge at Deveroir and three tank divisions crossed onto the west bank of the canal.

Late that afternoon, Egypt sent a force of fighter-bombers with a MiG-21 escort to attack the bridgehead. The IAF responded with two squadrons of F-4s and one squadron of Neshers. "Down on Deversoir it was total tumult: parachutes in the air and there were so many of us that it was almost impossible to catch an enemy aircraft'" recalled F-4 pilot Asher Snir.

You are an F-4 flight leader.

On 20 October 1973, Israeli armored forces that crossed the Suez Canal a day earlier today are advancing on the major Egyptian base at Fayid. A helicopter-borne IDF paratroop battalion was flying to the south of the base to engage any Egyptian ground vehicles trying to escape.

The Israeli Air Force has launched three F-4E squadrons to attack Fayid ahead of the ground forces. Two squadrons have SEAD missions to knock out SAMs and AAA.

The third F-4E squadron was tasked to strike vehicle parks at Fayid Camp, an Egyptian Army base adjacent to the airfield. Your are leading the first flight.

Israeli armored units crossed the Suez Canal in force on 16 October 1973. On 18 October 1973, the IAF conducted Operation Nutcracker 22 to clear the area around the Suez Canal of Egyptian SAMs. The objective was to gain air superiority so that IAF attack aircraft could provide Close Air Support to IDF tank units operating west of the canal.

You are the leader of an F-4E flight tasked with suppressing SAMs to allow follow-on attack aircraft to level a SAM battery.

On 15 October 1973 the IAF sent a mixed force of F-4s and A-4s to shut down a major MiG-17 base close to the Suez Canal. The mission was a preparation raid (although that part was highly classified) for the crossing of the Suez by Israeli tanks the following day.

On 14 October 1973 the IAF sent F-4s on a raid of Mansoura Air Base ahead of another planned attack on Tanta Air Base. The Egyptians later would claim their MiG 21s shot down 17 Israeli F-4s. In reality, only one Phantom was shot down and that was by friendly fire. Egypt claimed more than 250 Israeli took part in the attack. In reality only six F-4s attacked Mansoura and 18 Phantoms attacked Tanta. With the exception of the one crew attacked mistakenly by an Israeli fighter (they ejected over the ocean and were rescued) all returned to base safely.

Egypt still celebrates 14 October as Air Force Day but no other Air Force in the world recognizes it: Background article: https://theaviationgeekclub.com/the-mystery-of-air-battle-of-el-mansourah-the-air-battle-that-never-was-but-that-egyptians-think-to-have-fought/

You are leading a two-plane SEAD section on the Mansoura Air Base attack.
