MiG-15bis of the 535th IAP, 32nd IAD, flown by Lt. Khabiev over Korea in 1953.

After the MiG-15 threat forced the Far East Air Forces to cancel B-29 daylight raids in favor of night radar-guided missions from November 1951 onward, some squadrons were assigned night fighter duty to continue to put pressure on UN forces. Although it had no on-board radar, MiG-15s were effective night fighters when paired with GCI guidance, although they took losses to F3D Skyknights who were able to use on-board radar to engage the MiGs.
