Based on real events, this is a direct sequel to my previous A-10 mission (Operation Illois, https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3342707/) in which you provided CAS for SBS (Special Boat Service) operators. One year on, you will provide CAS for many of those same operators who are now exacting their revenge on the Taliban commander responsible for the deaths of their colleagues. This mission is immersive, with accurate comms, geography, and callsigns.

Operation Tetris was a capture-or-kill mission against Mullah Daldullah, a notorious warlord, second only to Mullah Omar, and Taliban chief in charge of Taliban military operations. Tracked by American intelligence, he was located in Baram Chah - a lawless, barren, trading post in the middle of the Dishu desert near the border with Pakistan.

This mission is playable solo as A-10A/C, or with a friend playing AH-64.  You will be tasked by your JTAC for three specific task types and will need to avoid civilian casualties.

## Background ##
This mission is a direct sequel to the Operation Illois A-10 mission in the Evangelic mission catalogue. It is based on true events. and involves many of the same operators that you provided CAS for in that previous mission.

Mullah Daldullah was a notorious Taliban military chief, directing military, economic, IED-production, and recruitment operations in southern Afghanistan. A warlord known for his brutality and dramatic fashion, he at times even alienated himself fr om the Quetta Shura leadership (the Taliban's leadership in Pakistan) due to his hard-line ideology, He was accountable for the Taliban's spring offensive in 2006 that had resulted in the deaths of SBS operators (played out in the previous DCS mission), and accountable for the deaths of many more servicemen, women, and civilians. He was a known affiliate to Al-Qeada, and as well as receiving funding from the Taliban there were many indications that he was also receiving support from ALQ. His name was synonymous with the influx of foreign fighters during the 2006-7 period, and for exploiting refugees for the purposes of suicide bombings. As such, he was high on the JPEL (Joint Prioritized Effects List - kill or capture).

In 2007 a team of Italian journalists and interpreters were kidnapped in Helmand Province. A prisoner exchange was negotiated, but not before American intelligence agencies had planted tracking devices on their newly released Taliban prisoners. Their whereabouts, and the whereabouts of Mullah Daldullah, were tracked back to Baram Chah, a border crossing town near the Helmand/Dishu/Pakistan border. C Squadron of the SBS (Special Boat Service) were tasked with his kill-or-capture. The real life mission involved an assault on a compound on the town's outskirts, and involved Chinooks, AH-64, and a AC-130 which will today be represented by you in an A-10.

Baram Chah was lawless, barren, trading post in the middle of the desert (think a real life Mos Eisley). Based on the Pakistan border, it was the ideal home to the trade of illicit materials, narcotics, weapons, IED-schools, and even people. It was largely untouched by coalition forces - too far south to make any meaningful inroads there - and so was largely controlled by the Taliban. Such was their level of their control that the Taliban flag was written in limestone on one of the hills surrounding the town (see briefing images). This was later destroyed by an A-10 during Operation Steel Dawn 2 some five years later.

## The Mission ##
Capture or Kill Mullah Daldullah.

C Squadron, the SBS (Special Boat Service) have been tasked with the kill-or-capture of OBJ Tetris, Mullah Daldullah.

Intelligence places the target in Baram Chah, a border crossing town in the desert close to Pakistan. He is believed to be attempting to cross into Pakistan as part of a logistics convoy.

Two assault teams will ins ert at the border crossing via C/S Pegasus, a pair of RAF Chinooks. They will commandeer the border crossing and start searching vehicles. They will attempt to arrest Daldullah.

They will be given air cover by C/S Ugly, an AH-64 Apache.

You will provide CAS as C/S Frosty, an A-10 [the real mission didn't involve an A-10, although one was on station at the time. It did, however, involve a AC-130 which you will essentially replace]. A friend can join you as AH-64 C/S Ugly 1-2.

JTAC for the mission will be C/S Vader.

Upon the kill or capture of Mullah Daldullah, the SBS will egress via Chinook and the mission will end.

## Intelligence ##
The target's exact whereabouts is unknown, but American intelligence agencies indicate he is on the move, presumably in a vehicle, headed towards the border crossing.

The town is controlled by a combination of the Taliban, Pakistan border forces, and a small handful of Afghan Police Forces (who we assess to be working with the Taliban).

The Pakistan forces are not likely to be of much help. We assess that they are under instruction to stay away from coalition/Taliban interactions.

Once the Chinooks arrive, it is likely that Taliban insurgents will start to mobilise. It is also not unusual for Taliban fighters to come up to the Pakistan fence-line of the border crossing to "taunt" coalition forces.

The Taliban are known to be well-equipped on the Pakistan side of the border, wh ere they go largely unharrassed. You are advised not to fly too far south in to Pakistan as CSAR will be unable to get you.

## ROE ##
All targets offered by the JTAC are to be treated as hostile.

Taliban personnel and vehicles south of the border (i.e. in Pakistan) are to be treated as friendly unless a hostile act is committed. We are not authorised to engage targets in Pakistan.

This is a busy border crossing and there are a number of civilians in the area. Precision, and the use of your cannon, will be key to minimizing splash damage.
