Seeing a need for Ground-based Close Air Support aircraft following the 2010 Circum Pacific War, the Osean Marine Corps went forth with a series of Trials for different Ground Attack Aircraft to supplement their existing AV-8B and Helicopter forces until the F-35B could be produced en masse
In 2013 VMA-311 was redesignated as VMFA-311 Trialing the F-16C and A-10C Fighters. Ultimately the Service elected to adopt the F-16C, Assigning the "Tomcats" to the light fighter and returning the A-10s to the OADF. VMFA-311 Fighters first Deployment would be in 2016 during the Emmerian-Estovakian War, in Yuktobania to help secure the passage of Osean Vessels in the region. The Tomcats would make another Combat Deployment in 2019, this time to Usea supporting Osean Landings in the southern parts of Erusea near the end of the Conflict.
Currently VMFA-311 is still stationed at MCAS Oceanside in Califia.
