This mission is a companion to the previously-published Thuyen Lua Torpedo Boat Base strike (CV31-20):

This mission is flown from the other carrier in the combined strike--the USS Forrestal (CV-59), attacking the target from the opposite direction.
Your objective is similar to the original mission: to take a functional, modern torpedo boat base and leave it burning and significantly less functional. Your assigned target: the cargo-handling facility on the northern side of the base.
You and your wingman are on the catapults. Finish preparations and launch as soon as you're ready. Join up with the strike group, hit your target and get back here. We're probably going to be doing a lot more of this.

What will come to be known as the Vietnam War has not yet begun. However, in recent weeks, harassment by hostile torpedo boats of our intelligence-gathering ships in international waters has escalated amid increasing tensions between Washington and Hanoi. The teletype minutes ago spat out the following instruction direct from CINCPAC:

Strike operations continue against the airbase under construction on enemy-held ROTA island. Intel believes the airfield is close to operational status.
Our strike yesterday was successful in suppressing the one known SAM site, but it was not knocked out. Iron Hand elements will be tasked with hitting that site again, in conjunction with an alpha strike against the airfield.
Bon Homme Richard (CV-31), steaming northwest of the target, is sending the alpha strike. You will lead the final element of the strike. Your job is to put craters in that runway. We're depending on you to keep the enemy on the ground.
USS Forrestal (CV59) will send flakbusters and Iron Hand elements from the southeast.
Fly smart, do damage, and try not to get yourself shot up.

Vinh is one of the enemy's main industrial centers and a transportation crossroads. Our target today is a logistics chokepoint in the middle of the city.
The Sacred Cao River bisects the city and is a major barrier to ground transportation. Most materiel is funneled via three large bridges--two railroad spans, plus a highway bridge. The enemy devotes a lot of resources towards defending these crossings and repairing them when we hit them. And now they're up again.
You and your wingman are on the bow catapults. Launch when commanded and go take out your target: the northern railroad bridge.
Beware of SAM and the plentiful AAA. Fly smart, get in, get out, and leave twisted iron in your wake.

Today we're sending our biggest strike yet against the enemy's main logistics center: the docks at Haiphong Harbor. As you are well aware, this port is the enemy's main receiving station for foreign military aid of every kind. This is a critical target, and the enemy knows it. There is more anti-aircraft per square foot in this area than anywhere else in the world outside of Hanoi itself.
We know of one SAM site active in the area. It is well within range of the target zone. As Iron Hand, you will precede the strike. Your mission is to neutralize SAM--kill the radars, or keep them busy and off the air, and give the strike bombers a chance to do their job.
Your jet is on Cat 1. Get set up and launch when commanded. Your loadout is cluster-bomb dispensers (2) plus two cans of Zuni rockets as a backup. Get in there, fly smart, and put some warheads on foreheads.

We spend a lot of time blowing up trucks on the Ho Chi Minh Trail--when we can find them. Here we'll have a chance to destroy the goods when they're still in big piles, all in one place. One bomb here can be worth a hundred of them later on.
Your A-4 is on waist cat 3. Your squadron--VA-106 (Gladiators)--and planes fr om VA-83 (Rampagers) are making up a 29-plane Alpha strike. Launch when commanded, join up as tail-end Charlie and go hit 'em where it hurts.

We have identified a choke point in their logistics chain: a massive depot where they assemble and service the units. Today we're going to go blow up those missiles and the facilities that make them.
You lead the final 2-ship element of an 8-plane strike on the depot. Code name SAM CITY, it is located on the south side of the decommissioned airfield at Phu Yi (Kobuleti). Various facilities are present--chemical tanks, shop buildings, plus many missiles in every state of construction. It is a concentrated and target-rich complex.

Misión 1 de la academia básica para aviones cásicos.
Instrucciones de la Misión:
- Despegue: Inicia en la Base Aérea de Rota y realiza una subida en espiral para alcanzar altitud operativa de 4000 ft y reunión con compañeros.
- Configura el TACAN en la frecuencia 59X.
- Desde Rota, sigue el radial que necesites directo al CVN-59.
- Mantén la altitud, velocidad de 300 kt durante el vuelo hasta llegar al portaaviones y orbita sobre él a 3000 ft.
- Monitoriza la cubierta, dos A4-C despegarán, forma con ellos y síguelos hasta que un mensaje os avise.
Procedimiento de Aterrizaje:
-Al llegar al TACAN UAM 54X, salir por el radial 270º y a 7 nm, sobre la costa, virar a la izquierda para inicial de la pista 06L.
-Realiza una rotura izquierda a 1.500 pies sobre la pista y 350 kt, con un giro continuado.
-Después del aterrizaje, realiza el rodaje hacia la zona designada de estacionamiento y apaga los motores.
