NOTE Eagle dynamics please note the name of the file "Torture map" became famous, so i'm leaving it as is. its NOT intended to refer to any personal harm. Just to "torture" the CPU and GPU by having active units on the map. This map is designed for the purposes of testing the DCS world performance, while flying over terrain with some aircraft, sam, and ground units. It will tax the CPU around the same level as a fairly complex server/mission.

This is a modification that alters values of shadow cascade(s) for better performance.
In practice, what happens when using this mod is the terrain shadows (outside-cockpit) being drawn as far as before, but with overall performance improved with quite small visual difference trade-off. The other benefit is that, at the same time, the inside-cockpit shadows maintain high quality in all settings (4096x4096 pixels shadow, though even that can be changed if really desired).

DCS 2.5.6 is an older version of the sim that is far more performance-friendly, with lower hardware requirements.
This package provides the necessary files to easily (and separately) download and install DCS 2.5.6 (its final Stable release 2.5.6.61527.3, March 5th 2021) from ED's official servers. Just follow the instructions provided with the download package.

This mod works with DCS World 2.5.6, from version 2.5.6.50321 up to 2.5.6.61527.3 (the final release of 2.5.6, before 2.7).
This is a modification to slightly improve performance with little to none image quality loss, and no issues with slow loading of missions.
It works with regular screen monitors, and also with VR.
This mod is also IC compliant for Multiplayer (no issues whatsoever in Online MP, if using DCS 2.5.6).
PLEASE NOTE: this mod will NOT work with the newer versions of DCS (2.7, 2.8 or 2.9).
