On 22nd of September 1980. Iraq launched an invasion of Iran, hoping to take advantage of post-revolutionary situation. Initial attempt by the Iraqis to eliminate Iranian air force on the ground fails. Most Iranian airplanes survive and Iran now launches massive raids against Iraqi airfields trying to gain air superiority. F-4 is the main strike fighter in Iranian inventory but F-5 is sent to attack as well.
This mission is based on a historic event. It was the first time that F-5 and MiG-21 met in combat in this conflict. Iraqis attacked first launching an AAM at the F-5s but it missed. Iranians in turn attacked MiGs with a Sidewinder and one was shot down.
